On September 10, the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) announced that within the second week of September, Myanmar, including southern and eastern Shan State, is expected to experience rain for approximately 8 to 10 days.

The forecast indicates that during this period, two low-pressure areas may form over the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea. One of these systems could intensify and potentially become a small cyclone. The southwest monsoon is anticipated to retreat from northern Myanmar between September 15 and September 20, while remaining strong over the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea.

Rainfall is expected to be heavy in Naypyidaw, Mandalay Region, Magway Region, western Bago Region, Shan State, and Kayah State. In contrast, Sagaing Region, eastern Bago Region, Yangon Region, Ayeyarwady Region, Tanintharyi Region, Kachin State, Chin State, Rakhine State, Kayin State, and Mon State are likely to receive moderate rainfall.

Rainfall duration is projected to be 8 to 10 days in Naypyidaw, Bago Region, Yangon Region, Ayeyarwady Region, Tanintharyi Region, southern and eastern Shan State, Chin State, Rakhine State, Kayin State, and Mon State. However, Sagaing Region, Mandalay Region, Magway Region, Kachin State, northern Shan State, and Kayah State may experience 4 to 7 days of moderate rainfall.
