In a significant crackdown on online fraud, a combined security team from the Myanmar Police Force arrested four Chinese nationals and seventeen Myanmar nationals involved in a fraudulent online money scam. 

The arrests took place on August 18, 2024, in Chanayethazan Township, Mandalay Region.

The suspects were apprehended at a residence on 27th Street, between 65th and 66th Streets, in Pyigyimyatmhan Ward. 

The raid followed reports of individuals engaging in online scams. Authorities found Yanlong, 28, two other Chinese men, a Chinese woman, and ten Myanmar men and six women, including 20-year-old Ye Myint from Htunsan Village, Laukkai Township, Shan State. 

The homeowner, Daw Sanda, was also identified.

During the operation, authorities seized various equipment used for fraudulent activities, including four sets of computers, two laptops, a 5BB Broadband Wi-Fi device, three Ruijie Regee Wi-Fi extenders, and other related materials.

The suspects, including Yanlong, the other Chinese nationals, the Myanmar nationals, and the homeowner, Daw Sanda, are currently facing legal action under the Electronic Transactions Law, Section 33(a)/38. 

The case is being handled by the Chanayethazan Township’s No. 3 Police Station, which is conducting further investigations.
