Myanmar, China discuss border peace and stability, promotion of bilateral cooperation

U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, received Mr. Deng Xijun, Special Envoy for Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the People’s Republic of China, on September 18 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw, MOFA reported.

During the meeting, they cordially discussed the matters pertaining to the further enhancement of the existing Pauk Phaw relations, accelerating the mutually beneficial cooperation, the maintenance of peace and stability along the border between Myanmar and China, the latest developments in peace and national reconciliation process of Myanmar, China’s continuous constructive support towards Myanmar development endeavours as well as closer collaboration both in regional and international arena, especially ASEAN and the United Nations.

There have been reports of armed clashes between the Myanmar military and Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) these days in and around the town of Muse bordering China. 

In late July this year also, Mr. Deng Xijun paid a visit to Myanmar and met State Administration Council Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing to discuss the eradication of online games and frauds as well as bilateral cooperation matters.

Then, Myanmar Police Force arrested some Chinese citizens accused of getting involved in illegal online games and frauds and deported them to China. Moreover, some ethnic armed organizations running on the Myanmar-China border arrested Chinese citizens for fraudulent online games and handed them over to China.
