Bomb explodes at Yangon tax office injuring five people

An explosion occurred at the office of the Internal Revenue Department on Pansodan Road in Kyauktada Township, Yangon Region, yesterday noon, and five people including the deputy staff officer were wounded, according to nearby residents.

“The bomb blast took place on the 3rd Floor of a tax office on Pansodan Road. Two people including the deputy staff officer were injured in the bomb blast and three civilians who came to the tax office sustained injuries. Totaling five people were injured,” said nearby residents.

After the bomb explosion, security forces rushed to the scene, blocked off the streets stretching the Strand Road and carried out checks.

Concerning the bomb blast, the Information Team of the State Administration Council (SAC) reported that a man arrived at the third floor of the tax office under the Internal Revenue Department situated at the corner of Pansodan Road and Merchant Street in Ward No.4 in Kyauktada Township, Yangon Region, around 12pm of June 5 and left a package near the seats for the public before going downstairs. Later, the package bomb exploded at the third floor.

The SAC Information Team also said that relevant security members conducted investigations and they were trying to arrest the bomber.
