Rehabilitation efforts in Chin State must also promote MSMEs, cooperatives, agriculture and livestock sectors: Deputy Construction Minister

Rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts in Chin State should include the development of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), cooperative systems, agriculture and livestock sectors, Deputy Minister for Construction U Myo Myint has said.

He made the remarks during a coordination meeting with state-level departmental officials held on July 7 at the Union Guest House meeting hall in Hakha to discuss rehabilitation and reconstruction activities in Chin State.

The Deputy Minister said all relevant state-level departments must work together in their respective areas to carry out rehabilitation and reconstruction tasks. He said the main responsibility was to implement rehabilitation and rebuilding projects in Tedim, Tonzang and Falam towns.

He added that rehabilitation and reconstruction should not be limited to repairing and rebuilding government offices, hospitals, schools and other buildings, but should also focus on revitalizing economic sectors, including MSMEs, cooperative systems, agriculture and livestock production, to support sustainable development in the region.

Next, the Secretary of the Committee, U Wai Zin Tun, Deputy Director General of the General Administration Department, explained that the Chin State Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Committee is composed of 25 members, including the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Security and Border Affairs, the Deputy Chairman, himself as the Secretary, and the Secretary of the Chin State Government as the Joint Secretary. It is necessary to complete the office buildings necessary for civil servants to return and resume their duties. It is necessary to have security and the rule of law to carry out these tasks. The Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Working Committee is also formed with the necessary departments to be responsible for each sector. Departments that are not part of the Working Committee must also participate in the rehabilitation and reconstruction work.

After that, state-level departmental officials who attended the meeting included Titin Township, They explained the work that has been done and the work plans that will be carried out by their respective departments for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Tuzan and Falam. The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation of the Chin State Government made suggestions and discussed the proposals. The Deputy Minister said that the rehabilitation and reconstruction work must be implemented quickly; that it must be done in cooperation with religious leaders and town elders, and that departmental officials must supervise and continuously work together in accordance with the relevant sectors.
