Ministry plans to build over 5,000 apartments in public rental housing projects in NPT, YGN and MDY in 2022-2023 FY

The Ministry of Construction has launched public rental housing projects that include 10,000 apartments in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay and more than 5,000 apartments will be built in the first phase of the project.

A total of 448 apartments in Nay Pyi Taw, 3,104 apartments in Yangon and 1,456 apartments in Mandalay are under construction in 2022-2023 FY and will be completed in this fiscal year, according to the report from state-owned newspaper quoting U Win Pe, Deputy Minister for Construction.

U Win Pe, the Deputy Minister for Construction, said that despite the difficulty of transportation due to the covid-19 pandemic, the goal of achieving long-term development and improvement of the urban and housing sectors in a balanced manner and providing suitable and good housing to improve the living standards of the people is being carried out in accordance with the policy.

The Ministry of Construction is implemented and sold low-cost and affordable housing projects such as Kyan Sitt Min, Shwe Linban, Yuzana, Kanaung, Aung Myint Mo and Thilawa Garden for low income people.

In addition, international level industrial zone projects are also being implemented in order to provide people with a clean and comfortable living life that is compatible with the environment and to improve the manufacturing sector of the country. Mingaladon Industrial Park, Korean-Myanmar Industrial Complex, Yangon Amata Smart and Eco City, and Pan Hlaing golf course and high-rise housing projects are being implemented in Yangon Region.

The ministry is used 15 billion Kyats of federal funds to build 812 apartments in the 2018-2019 FY and 120 apartments in 2019-2020 FY in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay region where housings are required most. State employee rental housing projects are being built and completed with regional and state government funds.
