Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received the delegation led by Vice Chairman of United Wa State Party (UWSP) U Lau Yaku in Nay Pyi Taw today to discuss peace issues.
The UWSP is the fourth delegation to discuss with Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at his invitation for peace talks.
According to a government statement released today, the Senior General in meeting with the UWSP delegation discussed the ability to implement regional and national development tasks more speedily only if peace prevails, priority measures for the requirements of ethnic nationals and regional and national development, the need for cooperation of local people in peace, education and health affairs to facilitate regional development, practicing of multi-party democracy in accord with public desire and establishment of a union based on democracy and federalism.
The vice chair of the UWSP said his party agreed on the establishment of a union based on democracy and federalism, expressed his views and presented regional development.
Then, both sides discussed peace, education, health and regional development issues.
Together with the Senior General were SAC Vice Chairman Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and council members.
The UWSP delegation will continue to discuss with the peace negotiation team and the National Unity and Peace Coordinating Committee formed by the SAC.
