U Ko Ko Hlaing, Union Minister for the Ministry of International Cooperation and Chairman of the Task Force for the facilitation of ASEAN Humanitarian Assistance to Myanmar through AHA Center received Cambodian delegation led by Dr.Kung Phoak, secretary of the State for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Head of the office of the Special Envoy of the ASEAN Chair at the Ministry of International Cooperation in Nay Pyi Taw on April 21.
At the meeting, U Ko Ko Hlaing said that Myanmar expects patience, understanding and strong support from ASEAN for the implementation of the Five-Point Consensus. He pointed out the need to purely emphasize on humanitarian assistance and be practical in implementing Five-Point Consensus. He also said that Myanmar has been practicing no one left behind policy and so vaccinations have been carried out to armed forces organizations. Therefore, all the works and initiatives that come from ASEAN and external partners should be in line with the process and framework of Myanmar’s government.
Dr. Kung Phoak also expressed his appreciations for the visit and frank discussions. He said, Cambodia respects Myanmar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and finding possible ways for assisting Myanmar, not to interfere in other countries’ internal problems.
He also added that Cambodia understands complexity of internal problems as Cambodia has a similar historical background. Cambodia is ready to help Myanmar in the way both Myanmar and ASEAN are comfortable. Cambodia hopes all ASEAN member countries to be a part of every meeting and platform and to show others that Myanmar has been accommodating in every possible means for the implementation of the Five-Point Consensus.
