Permission has been given to reopen shops (including medicine shops, basic commodity shops and other shops) in townships excluding from “Stay at Home” rule in Mon State beginning from October 1.
“In the municipal markets outside of “Stay at Home” rule got green light to reopen again including garment shops, and other commodity shops,” said Tin Ko Ko, director of Mon State municipal committee.
Shop owners in townships under the “Stay at Home” rule also submitted letters for granting permission to reopen their markets but it can be done only when the “Stay at Home” rule is abolished and so coordination has been made with officials from the health department according to Tin Ko Ko.
Although permission has been given for reopening of shops, shop-owners and shoppers have to abide by the rules concerning the COVID-19. Ministry of Health has announced stay at home rule to Mawlamyine, Thanphyu Zayat and Thahton townships on July 8, Bilini Township on August 3 and Chaungsone Township on August 24.
Mon State municipal committee has issued a statement to close shops except medicine and basic commodity shops since July 5 as the COVID-19 cases increased in Mon State.
“The main gate of the Shwe Hintha market in Mudon has opened today and many shop owners are preparing to reopen their shops.” said a gold shop owner.
In July, 466 people died of COVID 19, 590 in August and 262 people in September in entire Mon State according to the statements issued by the Ministry of Health.
