Myanmar reports 122 confirmed cases and over 8,000 patients still receive treatments

Myanmar found 122 COVID-19 confirmed cases on June 1 and more than 8,000 patients are still receiving treatments in hospitals till June 1, according to a report from the Ministry of Health and Sports (MOHS).

A total of 2,016 samples are tested between 8 pm of May 31 and 8 pm of June 1 and found 122 confirmed patients.

A total of 2,623,429 samples are tested till June 1 and the number of confirmed patients is reached to 143,751. Up to 3,217 people are died from the virus. 41 people are allowed to be discharged from the hospital bring total number to 132,360, according to a report.

Clusters of COVID-19 patients were found in Cikha, Tonzan Township, Chin State and Tamu Township, Sagaing Region on May 27 and the ministry sent help to those townships to provide treatments, said the union minister in a coordination meeting to control and prevent COVID-19 held at Nay Pyi Taw on May 28.

The minister said a total of 96 confirmed cases were reported on May 27. Necessary measures are being taken to effectively prevent the spread of the disease and to control the outbreak in a timely manner. The supplies to control and cure COVID-19 are being sent to Cikha, Tonzan Township, Chin State. Disease control activities such as laboratory testing and health awareness raising are being stepped up with the relevant administrations, and other areas with high outbreaks are being addressed in a timely manner.

The ministry ordered “Stay at Home” arrangement is imposed in Tonzan and Tamu townships, announced MRTV on May 28.

It said the ministry is currently carried out COVID-19 disease prevention activities in a timely manner. People from some townships need “Stay at Home” order as there are more people who are found infected with COVID-19 in Chin State and Sagaing Region. Therefore, people living in Tonzan Township, Chin State and Tamu Township, Sagaing Region are included in the “Stay at Home” arrangement.
