Covid-19 cases total 263 after teenager infected

A 17-year-old girl from Buthidaung Township, Rakhine State, who had close contact with the Covid-19 patient (Case-262) has tested positive for the virus, bringing the total number of cases to 263 in Myanmar, the Ministry of Health and Sports reported at 8 am on June 18.

The new case was found after 894 samples in the second batch for June 17 were tested—659 by the National Health Laboratory (Yangon) and 235 by No (1) Defence Services Hospital (1,000-bed).

In the first batch for June 17, 1,202 samples tested—393 by the National Health Laboratory (Yangon), 157 by the Department of Medical Research, 375 by the Public Health Laboratory (Mandalay) and 277 by No (1) Defence Services Hospital (1,000-be). But no one was found positive.

The total number of samples tested for the whole day is 2,096.

Myanmar has so far seen 263 Covid-19 cases, six deaths and 185 recoveries.
