Police arrested one of four bank robbers from a group that robbed the KBZ bank branch 2 in Sittwe and the police are hunting down the rest, said Brig-Gen Zaw Min Tun, Spokesperson of Tatmadaw True News Information Team.

Four masked robbers entered the bank holding swords. They escaped with millions of kyats. The police caught one of them with a car but the money is still missing, he said.

“We learnt that the money is in the hand of the three remaining bank robbers,” he said.

The manager of the KBZ bank branch 2 confirmed the robbery but he was not allowed to provide further information. 

Security forces are seen near the bank and the police are looking for the remaining bank robbers, who are still at large.
