President U Min Aung Hlaing said that peace is the nation's greatest aspiration and that only a peaceful country can achieve development.

The President made the remarks while responding to questions from the media following his State of the Union address marking the first 100 days of his administration at the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw on July 31.

"Peace is what we aspire to. It is our greatest aspiration. Only when the country is at peace can we achieve development. Only then can we compete and engage effectively with the international community," the President said.

He added that all relevant stakeholders should work toward peace with a strong sense of purpose so the country can move forward in line with the demands of the times.

"If we focus on what is achievable, we can make it happen. But if we pursue what is not achievable, we will continue to face difficulties. Therefore, I would like to emphasize that national peace remains our country's top priority," the President said.

The President also urged all those concerned to work together conscientiously to help achieve lasting peace.
