Two monks quarantined in Sagaing are found infected with COVID-19 virus on June 4 bringing the total number to 236, announced the Ministry of Health and Sports (MOHS).
The announcement said a total of 1,186 swab samples are tested in the first batch including 742 swab samples at the National Health Laboratory, 107 swab samples at the Department of Medical Research, 244 swab samples at Public Health Laboratory in Mandalay and 93 swab samples at Public Health Laboratory in Mawlamyaing on June 4.
The two monks were returned from India and being quarantined at Sitagu Wipatana Academy in Sagaing. They are in good health and arrived in Sagaing hospital, according to the Facebook page of 200 bedded Sagaing general hospitals.
Three COVID-19 confirmed patients: cases 194, 195 and 196, are tested negative twice bringing the total number to 148. Among them, 134 patients are recovered from the virus and allowed to be discharged, it said.
Over 6.5 million people are infected with the COVID-19 virus and more than three million of them are recovered till June 4. Over 380,000 of them have died. The United States has the most infection and deaths in the world. More than one million people are infected in the country and over 100,000 of them have died.
