Union Election Commission chairman Hla Thein has stressed the need to monitor the whole election process to evaluate the quality of an election.

He made the remark during a meeting on electoral procedures for local and international election observers held at Grand Amara Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw on March 12.

The meeting was jointly organized by UEC and the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA).

“Election monitoring process can promote the credibility and standard of election and democracy,” Hla Thein said.

The Union Election Commission is implementing the election strategic plan (2019-2022) to be able to hold a general election in accord with the five standards, said the UEC chairman at the meeting.
