Myanmar suspends up to seven airlines due to novel coronavirus

Six airlines from China are temporarily suspended direct flights between Myanmar and China due to novel coronavirus and up to seven airlines suspended their flights to Myanmar, according to Yangon International Airport (YIA).

The seven airlines are China Eastern Airlines, 9 Air, JC (Cambodia) airlines, Qingdao Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, Hainan Air and Spring Air.

China Eastern Airlines announced it suspended direct flights between Wuhan and Yangon and Mandalay till at the end of February.

9 Air suspended its flights till February 18 and JC (Cambodia) airlines suspended till February 28. Qingdao Airlines suspended its flights till February 7 and Hainan Air suspended till March 28. Spring Air suspended its flight till February 16.

Authorities from the YIA have intensified their efforts to check travellers from international airlines to protect coronavirus.

The airport health quarantine team is checking passengers from international airlines especially from the countries, where epidemics outbreak occurs, to stop the spread of epidemics at the YIA. They used infrared thermal scanners approved by the World Health Organization and set standard operating procedures by cooperating with other departments and airlines.

If the passengers have symptoms of pneumonia such as fever, bronchitis, cough and shortness of breath now or within 14 days, they need to report to the public health sub-department at the airport or nearest health departments as soon as possible, announced public health sub-department.
