Young woman jumps into water at Sittway View Point

An 18-year-old woman jumped into the water at the View Point in Sittway city, Rakhine State, on the morning of September 26, according to Golden Mitta Foundation.

 The incident happened at about 8.45 am with a pair of flip-flops and an umbrella on which a name “Su Myat” is written she had supposedly left behind at the scene.  

“We have learned that she was just 18 years old. We have not received any contact. We don’t know and who where her family is, said an official from the foundation. 

News emerged that the young woman who jumped into the water was rescued by boatmen but it could not be verified.

“There were some comments on our Facebook page saying she was rescued by some boatmen. But we cannot verify it. Now, we have halted search and rescue, the official added.

View Point also called View Point Park serves mainly as a viewing deck into the Indian Ocean and the nearby scenery.

Last month also, a man jumped into Inya Lake and a man jumped off Kamagyi Bridge in Thakayta Township, Yangon Region, and a woman and her child jumped off Nawaday Bridge in Pyay, Bago Region.
