According to residents of Yangon, authorities are clearing out illegal street vendors and roadside stalls within the Yangon Region.

The clearance operations are targeting stalls set up for business on the streets in key areas of Yangon City, such as Hledan and Tamwe.

"I saw them starting the removal yesterday. It was quite sudden. I saw them dismantling the roadside stalls near the Arthawka bus stop market area. There were a lot of food stalls and beauty salons there. Today, I saw them clearing out those shops," said a resident of Tamwe Township.

Furthermore, it has been learned that some roadside stalls on Minanda Road in Thaketa Township have also been removed and are no longer permitted to operate.

"The shops near the Thaketa Capital are gone. There were betel nut shops and rice shops," said a resident of Thaketa Township.

Similarly, it has been learned that roadside stalls selling goods on Hledan Road are also being cleared.

"It's good they cleared a place like Hledan. It was impossible to walk through. There was no order, so pedestrians had to walk on the platform. Cars also had to avoid pedestrians, which caused traffic jams," said a resident of Yangon.

Likewise, it has been learned that the flower stalls in Thuwunna have also been cleared out.
