An ambulance carrying a woman was attacked around on the afternoon of August 29 by an unknown armed group on Yangon-Mawlamyaing road near Winpyan village, Bilin Township, Mon State, injuring a woman, according to the rescue team.
When Daw Shwe Zin, 45-year-old, from Kyaikhto Township, Mon State, left for Mawlamyaing by ambulance owned by Taungdan Myitta Social Welfare Association aiming to go to clinic, the armed group attacked the ambulance between 122/3 and 122/4 mileposts on Yangon-Malamyaing road near Winpyan village, Bilin Township.
Due to the attacks, Daw Shwe Zin was wounded in her right thigh and left leg.
“The back of ambulance was shot. The patient on the ambulance was wounded,” said unidentified official from Social Welfare Association.
The wounded victim was sent to the Thahton District People’s Hospital.
