State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi, during a video conference with members of the Union Election Commission (UEC) on August 6, said that there is news everywhere on voting list errors. Those participating in the discussion were Thein Swe, Minister for Labour, Immigration and Population, Myint Naing, member of UEC, Htet Aung, Deputy Director-General of the General Administration Department.

Every Myanmar citizen who is of 18 years is an eligible voter and it is each right and responsible to vote in the election.

“In order to give a vote, the voting list must be correct. There is news everywhere within one or two weeks about errors in the voting list, and full of mistakes in the voters list. They were reported across the entire nation. Therefore, it is an issue which must be given attention. Every eligible voter has the responsibility to vote for the nation or one’s desired party. It is irresponsible to say no vote or we don’t like this system and we won’t vote,” said Aung San Suu Kyi.

Currently, no vote campaigns can be found in social media for the coming general election.
