The Chairman of the National Disaster Management Committee, the Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council, the Deputy Prime Minister, the Vice Senior General Soe Win, accompanied by Union Ministers, the Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, the Commander of the Nay Pyi Taw Military Command and members, inspected the temporary offices of the ministries built in Modular Houses on the afternoon of May 4, the construction and completion of temporary staff housing, and the conditions of staff and staff families living in the temporary staff housing that has been built and occupied.
First, the Vice Chairman of the National Disaster Management Committee and members arrived at the Ministry of Immigration and Population, and Union Minister U Myint Kyaing explained the conditions of the temporary offices and the server rooms that will be used for election-related office work that will be held in the Modular Houses in the said office. The Vice Chairman of the National Disaster Management Committee ordered that servers and computers be placed in the temporary building systematically and special attention be paid to security.
Then, the Vice Chairman and members accompanied by the President of the Constitutional Court, U Aung Zaw Thein, inspected the construction of temporary offices and the selection of land to build temporary accommodation for employees and their families, and ordered them to supervise the opening of temporary offices before the end of May.
After that, they visited the temporary staff housing of the Ministry of Labor, and Union Minister for Labor, U Chit Swe, explained the layout of the temporary housing, the selection of land to build the temporary office building, and the provision of drinking water, electricity, and sewage systems in the temporary staff housing. The Deputy Prime Minister and members inspected the completed housing and gave instructions as needed.
75 temporary staff housing units will be built at the site, and 10 units of 40 ft x 22 ft 2-room apartments and 7 units of 20 ft x 22 ft 2-room apartments have been completed, and the remaining housing units are being built as soon as possible.
Then, the Vice Chairman and members arrived at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, where Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi and officials explained the construction of temporary staff housing units on 22 acres of land near the office, the selection of land for the construction of Modular Houses, and the Vice Chairman and teams inspected the conditions of staff and staff families living in the completed temporary staff housing units, and the construction of additional staff housing units, and coordinated with officials to provide necessary services.
The temporary staff housing units include 2 units of 45 ft x 24 ft 10-room apartments, 17 units of 36ft x 15ft 3-room apartments and 1 unit of 24ft x 15ft 2-room apartment have been built and are occupied by some staff households. As the temporary housing units under construction are completed, staff families will continue to be accommodated.
After that, they visited the temporary staff housing near the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, where Union Minister U Tun On explained the temporary staff housing units completed under the ministry’s plan and the construction of the staff housing units under construction, and the placement of staff and staff families in the temporary barracks. They inspected the completed temporary staff housing units and gave necessary guidance.
Then, the Vice Chairman and members visited the Ministry of Electric Power, where Union Minister U Nyan Tun explained the status of the temporary offices that have been opened and the office operations are underway. The damage to the main office building and the extension buildings was explained, and the Deputy Prime Minister and members inspected the renovation of the office buildings that had been inspected by experts and gave instructions as needed.
After that, the Vice Chairman and members visited the red-rated Kankaw Housing Building (9) where experts from the Nay Pyi Taw Municipal Development Committee, the Ministry of Construction, and the Myanmar Engineering Council inspected the building’s strength using 5 types of building strength measuring equipment. The officials explained the findings of the inspection and the recommendations for renovation. The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly asked questions and discussed what he wanted to know.
Then, the Vice Chairman and members visited the Ministry of Electric Power, where Union Minister U Nyan Tun explained the status of the temporary offices and the operations of the office, the damage to the main office building and the extension buildings, and the Deputy Prime Minister and members inspected the renovation of the office buildings that had been inspected by experts and gave instructions on what was needed.
After that, they visited the red-rated Kankaw Housing Building No. (9) where experts from the Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee, the Ministry of Construction, and the Myanmar Engineering Council inspected the building’s strength using 5 types of building strength measuring equipment. The officials explained the findings of the inspection and the recommendations for renovation.
Then, the team inspected the work of the Ministry of Construction to repair the walls that were slightly damaged by the earthquake in the Thapyay (2) dormitory (5) and Thapyay (4) dormitory (8) and the cracked areas by mixing Sikalaxtex, non-shrinking cement-based multi-purpose mortar (SikaGrout) and cement, and the damage caused by the earthquake in the Thazin (5) dormitory (18) and the red-level dormitory, and gave instructions as needed.
Then, they arrived the Uppatasanti Pagoda and conducted the work of systematically removing and cleaning the sun-proof stone slabs in the square to repair the pagoda that was damaged by the earthquake. He inspected the arrangements for repairing the damaged areas in the cave, gave necessary instructions to the officials, and offered flowers and water to the Buddha image in the cave.
