Vaccination of COVID-19 given to MPs going to attend the 3rd parliamentary meeting

COVID-19 injections were given to MPs going to attend the 3rd parliamentary meeting at the dining hall in Pyithu Hluttaw on January 29. The 3rd parliamentary meeting will commence on February 1.

Swab tests were taken twice from the MPs on January 23 and January 28. 

“Before vaccination, we have to fill the forms to check our health history and take blood pressure, Then, vaccination were given,” said Dr. Banyar Aung Moe from Mon Unity Party.

After injection, each has to wait for 30 minutes to check side-effect.  MPs were given jabs from the vaccines donated from India government as friendship gift to Myanmar. India has donated 1.5 million vaccines to Myanmar it arrived on January 22.

Apart from the 4 MPs with positive symptoms in the first test and 2 MPs in the second test, all MPs were given vaccination according to MP Aung Kyaw Kyaw Oo from Hlaing Township. They will be given separate injection later. The MPs who were taken vaccination were be given jabs on February 26.

“The injection is made into a person’s body and the person usually may suffer certain reactions such as redness, swelling, pain, fatigue, fever, vomit, headache and aching limbs in ten per cent of the vaccinated people. They will feel better in one or two days’ time. If the side effects are severe or take time, they will need to consult doctors nearby,” Dr Thandar Lwin, Deputy Director General of Department of Disease Control under the Ministry of Health and Sports (MOHS).
