The Upper House plans to form a 15-member Bill Committee, with Daw Nwe Nwe Oo nominated as chair and U Zin Min Htet as secretary.

The proposal was introduced on March 24 during the third day of the first regular session of the Third Amyotha Hluttaw. The Speaker said the committee would be formed in line with existing laws and parliamentary rules, with final approval to be granted by the chamber.

The committee will serve a one-year term, subject to review and possible reshuffle.

Its role is to scrutinize draft laws to ensure they align with the Constitution, national policies, and public interest, while safeguarding security, sovereignty, and consistency with international agreements.
