UEC offers public to object name, flag and emblem of five political parties

NAYPYITAW------The Union Election Commission(UEC) offered public that those who wish to object to the name of the party, the flag and the emblem to be used by that organization may submit their objection to the Union Election Commission with valid evidence within seven days from the date of this announcement.

The UEC announced the names of five political parties are New National Democratic Party, Phalon-Sawaw Democratic Party-PSDP, Pa-O National League Organization-PNO, Public Contribute Students Democracy Party and New Democracy Party-Kachin.

Under Rule 14 (d) of the Registration of Political Parties, it is hereby announced to the public that those who wish to object to the name of the party, the flag and the emblem to be used by that organization may submit their objection to the Union Election Commission with valid evidence within seven days from the date of this announcement of UEC.

The five political parties applied to the UEC for permission to establish political parties under article 3 of the Political Parties Registration Law after the issuance of the Political Parties Registration Law and Rules.

There are 13 political parties already have applied to the UEC for establishment of political parties and registration, and there are five political parties that will organize the entire union. There are up to eight political parties that will be organized only within a region or state, and the establishment and registration of for those parties are being scrutinized by the UEC.

To date, four parties have applied under Section 3 of the Political Parties Registration Law, and nine parties have applied under Section 25 of the Political Parties Registration Law, totaling 13 parties.

Among these 13 parties, five parties will organize the entire Union and eight parties will organize only within a region or state.

Union Election Commission continues verifying the right to establish and register these parties.

The State Administration Council-SAC enacted the political parties’ registration law (15/2023) on January 26th of 2023 and the UEC also issued law and bylaw of political parties registration law on January 31st.
