Three quakes hit centering near Hopin in a single day

Three quakes, centering near Hopin, Kachin State, hit in a single day, according to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).

A slight earthquake of magnitude 3.9 on the Richter Scale with its epicenter inside Myanmar (about 3 miles Northwest of Hopin), latitude 25.03°N, longitude 96.50°E, depth 10 kilometers, about 69 miles Southwest of Myitkyina seismological observatory was recorded on  November 24, 2019, announced the DMH.

A slight earthquake of magnitude 4.1 Richter Scale with its epicenter Inside Myanmar (about 6 miles Northwest of Hopin), latitude 25.04°N, longitude 96.45°E, depth 10 kilometers, about 72 miles Southwest of Myitkyina seismological observatory was recorded on  November 24, 2019, announced the DMH.

A slight earthquake of magnitude 3.3 Richter Scale with its epicenter inside Myanmar (about 4 miles northwest of Hopin), latitude 25.02°N, longitude 96.46°E, depth 10 kilometers, about 59 miles north-northwest of Katha seismological observatory was recorded on November 24, 2019, announced the DMH.

Sagaing Fault, a 600-mile long fault stretching from north to south and Myanmar, also has small faults in addition to Kyaukkyan and Kabaw faults.

The quake is a danger which cannot be expected in advance. People need to check buildings and furniture to avoid casualties and government departments have to be alerted to respond and prepare, said experts.
