Ten houses ablaze in Myawady due to overheating kettle incident

A fire broke out at a commercial teak plantation in Ward No. 3, Myawady, Kayin State, at about 6:30 pm on January 15, after a three-minute fast heating electric kettle was overheated, sources said.

Due to the fire, ten houses were destroyed and a barrack with 16 rooms was burnt down.

Myawady town has not accessed to electricity for about two years, but the ward is the place where electricity distribution from Thailand is available.

Fire trucks and water bowsers from Myawady District Fire Services Department and the auxiliary fire department went to put out the fire, but the narrow road and density of the houses made the firefighters to put out the fire in difficulty, and the fire was extinguished at about 7:30 pm.

Although no people or animals were harmed by the fire, more than 20 families were left homeless.

According to the incident, legal action will be taken against the owner of the house that started the fire due to negligent use of fire.

On January 11, a fire broke out in Ward No. 5, Myawady town, due to overheating of the battery connected to the solar system.
