A taxi driver was killed after a collision between a private car and a taxi at the Thuwunna traffic light intersection in Yangon, according to reports.
The accident occurred at around 2 a.m. on March 7 while vehicles were passing through the traffic light. A member of the Shin Than Yay Rescue Association, who assisted at the scene, said the private car struck the taxi from the side.
“The accident happened at the traffic light. The private car hit the taxi from the side, causing the taxi to spin and crash into a roadside wall. The impact was on the driver’s side of the taxi, which led to the driver’s death,” the rescue official said.
Two passengers in the taxi were injured in the crash, while the front of the private car was severely damaged.
Members of the Shin Than Yay Rescue Association and other social assistance groups responded to the scene to provide help. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
