Taninthayi Region Chief Minister denies accusations

Taninthayi Region Chief Minister Dr. Le Le Maw has totally denied accusations of the appointment of her relative as PSO and granting the permits to her relatives.

When asked about the accusations, the chief minister who currently arrived in Myeik Township replied that she had yet to receive any letter from the National League for Democracy (NLD). She had no any relative.

“I have no brothers and sisters. So  I have no nephews and nieces. I have my children only. My children are school-age ones while some others are staff. My children don’t run any own businesses and companies,” she added.

Dr. Myo Nyunt, the spokesperson of the NLD said: “The NLD (headquarters) has received the complaint on January 24. The NLD will ask the one who lodged the complaint. It will depend on the submission of valid evidences. Those involved in the case should be held accountable for it.”

Around 50 locals sent the copies of complaint to the President, the State Counsellor and the NLD CEC as the NLD said that it would deal with the case only after receiving the complaint.

The complaint said according to the State Counsellor’s directive, the members of government are not allowed to appoint their spouses and relatives as PSO in the departments and organizations. The chief minister appointed the daughter of chair of the NLD Region Aung Soe who is the brother-in-law of the chief minister.

The chief minister said her PSO is Zaw Lin Aung.
