Residents of Botahtaung Township said that the strong winds damaged some containers in the Botahtaung container yard and some roadside shops.

The strong winds that hit on the morning of July 24 damaged some containers in the Botahtaung container yard, and some roadside shops also had their roofs blown off.

"The wind lasted for four or five minutes. At that time, I didn't dare to go outside. The roofs of some roadside shops were blown off. I didn't hear any injuries. The wind was very strong," said a resident of Botahtaung Township.

The strong winds caused some containers loaded on vehicles to fall, some stacked containers to fall, and some vehicles carrying containers toppled over.

According to a statement from the Myanmar Fire Services Department (MFSD), the strong winds caused to fall down trees in Dawbon, Hlaing, Dala and Thaketa townships on July 24.

According to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH), due to the intensity of the low-pressure area and the strong monsoon winds in the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal, rain and thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Magway, Sagaing, Ayeyawady, Tanintharyi regions, and Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Rakhine and Shan states until July 28, with isolated heavy falls in some areas.

In addition, the DMH has warned that natural disasters such as strong winds, thunder, lightning, hail, flash floods and landslides may occur along with the heavy rains.
