State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi will give a speech on Myanma Radio and Television at 8 pm on December 18, recounting her experiences at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) hearings in the case filed by the Gambia against Myanmar on charges of genocide, according to the State Counsellor Office.

The State Counsellor went to the ICJ in The Hague, the Netherlands, to defend the provisional measures trial of the lawsuit submitted by The Gambia side on December 10. She and Myanmar officials then made oral rebuttals on December 11.

On December 12, both countries had their final say at the ICJ.

The Myanmar delegation led by State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, also Union Minister for Foreign Affairs, arrived back in Nay Pyi Taw at 5.30 pm on December 14.

On arrival in Nay Pyi Taw, the State Counsellor was accorded welcome by members of parliament, service personnel, local people, teachers and students in support of her. They were holding placards chanting slogans such as "May Mother Suu be healthy. May everything she does be successful. We will stand by State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi." The crowds were thronging from Nay Pyi Taw Airport to Thabyaygon roundabout.

The State Counsellor was accompanied by Union Ministers Kyaw Tint Swe and Kyaw Tin, departmental officials and legal advisors.
