Shan State Progressive party (SSPP/SSA) and Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS/SSA) officially issued a statement on November 29 that both groups agreed ceasefire.

It said that it is the only desired by the Sanghas and the public for a long time between the two Shan ethnic armies and the statement is issued again for the media and the public.

Three members from SSPP/SSA and four members from RCSS/SSA met on November 29 to discuss for ceasefire and the agreement on ceasefire was reached, it said.

Eleven Media has contacted both SSPP/SSA and RCSS/SSA but it wasn’t available till now. But, according to the interview made with the Shan Herald news agency by Major Sai Kham San from the RCSS/SSA, it said that they met for three times and agreed to ceasefire. They also agreed to work for the settling of the clashes broke out in Shan State and their involvement and cooperation in which they can contribute to solve the problems.

Their ceasefire was welcomed not only by Shan ethnics but also people living in Shan State. Some shared their feeling on ceasefire on social media page.

“We are very glad to hear the good news. No Shan nationalities desire fighting against each Shan national,” said an official from Htonmaw Shan Youth to the Eleven Media.

Since October 27, the northern alliance forces: Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), Ta’aung National Liberation Army (TNLA) and Arakan Army (AA), launched Operation 1027. Exchange of fire broke out between Tatmadaw and the three northern alliance forces at Laukkai, Kunlon, Hsenwi, Lashio, Kutkai and Namtkham including Chinshwehaw of Kokang Self- Administered Zone. As the three northern alliance forces destroyed bridges along Mandalay-Lashio-Muse, Lashio-Chinshwehaw-Laukkai Union Highway, transportation is inaccessible and flow of commodities halted.
