Over 4,000 people, including over 100 disabled, are reportedly being affected by flooding in Patakhwe Village Tract, Myanaung Township.

It has been reported that 4,125 people from 1,333 households in 1,180 homes in the Patakhwe village tract, Myanaung Township, Ayeyawady Region, have been affected by flooding.

“Around 4,000 people, including the disabled, have been affected by the floods. The flooding has lasted for about a week. This is the largest flood we’ve seen in 29 years,” said a resident of Patakhwe village tract.

Flooding began about a week ago, and the affected people are currently facing difficulties with food and transportation.

“Due to the flooding, it’s hard to cook and there are difficulties with drinking water. Additionally, we are facing dangers from snakes due to the rising water. We need donors to help because it’s hard to travel from our village,” said another resident of Patakhwe village tract.

This flood is the most severe in 29 years, damaging sesame and other crops in the village.

Donors and officials from the Karuna Kanlet Social Aid and Rescue Association visited the affected areas and provided aid on July 21.

“Everywhere you look, there’s water all around. The water level isn’t decreasing,” said one of the visitors to the village.

Other villages in Ayeyawady Region are also affected by flooding and are in need of assistance.
