Security has been tightened with police deployment in three areas starting from the roundabout of Office No.23 in Yazahtani Street near the Supreme Court of the Union in Ottarathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw, according to local sources available on January 29.

Tightened security comes after the Union Supreme Court has issued a statement saying that an initial hearing will take place on January 29 (today) as to whether or not to accept the writ of quo warranto against President Win Myint and Union Election Commission chairman Hla Thein.

It is a general civil suit (writ) with case No.198/2020, and the court is due to conduct an initial hearing about the case as to whether the case should be heard, the statement says.

According to the statement, another general civil suit with case No.199/2020 filed by Thraysithu Soe Maung against 15 persons including UEC chairman Hla Thein will be initially hard as to whether the case should be heard.

Meanwhile, supporters of the Union Solidarity and Development Party are going round in around 100 cars near the Union Supreme Court chanting slogans.
