Investigation and taking action alone is not enough for declining of corruption. It is necessary to emphasize the emergence of a culture which totally deny corruption and malpractices and raise public awareness and preventive measures against corruption in time said SAC Chairman Senior-General Min Aung Hlaing.
He said these words at the ceremony to mark the International Anti-Corruption Day at the Myanmar International Convention Center-I in Nay Pyi Taw on December 9.
The essence of anti-corruption is to protect the interests of the people and to shape a society without corruption. The public service personnel are building trust between the government and the people, he said.
The anti-corruption procedures are important in shaping good governance. Corruption may cause the derailment of public service personnel from their acts of obedience, righteousness and abiding by ethics. If they follow the prescribed rules and regulations, procedures and ethics, the administration system which wins the trust of the people will emerge to develop the nation, he added.
The government is implementing the anti-corruption strategic project (2022-2025). The State Administration Council sets objectives to ensure the prosperity of the State and the sufficiency of food. Uplifting the internal economy will contribute to the improvement of people’s lives, especially the encouragement of local production.
If one finds complex facts to the existing laws, rules and regulations and procedures, it is necessary to seek remarks from relevant Union-level departments and organizations and seek guidance from the superior organizations. Corruption Prevention Unit-CPUs have been formed in union level ministries, States/Region governments. Moreover, public feedback programmes-PFP gas been implemented to effectively prevent small scale corruptions, he continued.
The edutainment programmes are being implemented at basic education schools to spread the principles of a corruption-free society. It aims to develop righteous citizens with good morality in the future, he said.
