The Chairman of the State administration Council (SAC), Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who is in Belarus to attend the 4th Eurasian Economic Forum (EEF 2025), met with the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
On the morning of June 26, Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met with the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Mr. Bakytzhan Abdirovich Sagintayev, at the Minsk International Exhibition Center BELEXPO in Minsk, Belarus.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the Board of the Euro-Asian Economic Commission warmly welcomed the SAC Chairman and the members, and said that the attendance of the SAC Chairman and the members to the 4th Eurasian Economic Forum, in person, would further enhance cooperation.
The SAC Chairman expressed his pleasure at the meeting with the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). The SAC Chairman expressed his belief that during his tenure as the Chairman of the Board of the EEC, he will be able to make good recommendations for the economic development of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states and will be able to lead the way in building a common economic market for the member states. He also expressed his belief that this meeting will provide impetus for the practical implementation of cooperation between Myanmar and the EAEU member states. He added that a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) was signed between Myanmar and the EAEU in 2023.
In addition, a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) was signed between the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) in St. Petersburg, the Russian Federation, in June 2023. The Senior General said that he was pleased to be able to participate in the Eurasian Economic Forum (EEF 2025) and that he had learned about many opportunities for cooperation between Myanmar and the EAEU member states. He also hoped that Myanmar would reach the level of observer state of the EAEU through the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). Myanmar will work to strengthen and expand cooperation not only at the study level but also through practical implementation.
Then, the SAC Chairman and the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission discussed issues that could promote economic cooperation between Myanmar and the EAEU member states, issues that could provide technical and vehicle assistance in promoting Myanmar's agricultural sector, transportation sector, mining technology, and energy sector, issues that could further accelerate economic trade opportunities by conducting direct trade and investment between Myanmar and the EAEU member states, holding trade fairs, and forums, and issues that would help Myanmar reach the status of an observer state of the EAEU, thereby opening up many promising economic cooperation opportunities.
The meeting was attended by the Joint Secretary of the Council General Ye Win Oo, Council member General Nyo Saw, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe, Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr Kan Zaw, Deputy Ministers, Myanmar Ambassador to the Republic of Belarus U Thit Lin Ohn, and officials, as well as officials from the Eurasian Economic Commission.
