Nippon Foundation Honorary Chairman Mr. Yohei Sasakawa paid a courtesy call on President U Min Aung Hlaing at the State President’s Office in Nay Pyi Taw on the afternoon of August 10, according to reports.
During the meeting, they discussed the current situation in Myanmar, including the government elected by the people continuing to firmly pursue the country’s path toward democracy and its ongoing efforts to achieve internal peace. They also discussed measures that Mr. Yohei Sasakawa, in his capacity as Honorary Chairman of the Nippon Foundation, could undertake to the extent possible to support Myanmar’s internal peace process.
In addition, they discussed assistance to be provided by the Nippon Foundation for the rehabilitation of flood-affected areas in LaymyintnaTownship, Ayeyawady Region.
They also discussed assistance from the Nippon Foundation to support the teaching of subjects related to the construction of earthquake-resistant buildings at technological universities in Myanmar.
