Rice offered to 1,000 nuns to celebrate 82nd birthday of Venerable Sitagu Sayadaw

A rice offering ceremony for 1,000 nuns took place in commemoration of the 82nd birthday of Abhidhaja Maharathaguru Head of Shwegyin Nikarya (Shwegyin Sanga Organization) of Myanmar Head of the Sitagu Buddhist Academies Sitagu Sayadaw Ashin Nyanissara at the Sitagu International Buddhist Academy in Sagaing Region on March 18.

Rice was offered by the monks from the academy, laypersons and donors from various towns.

In commemoration of the Venerable Sitagu Sayadaw's birthday, rice was offered to 1,000 nuns on March 18. A similar ceremony would be held to offer rice to 1,000 monks on March 19 to mark the birthday.

On March 20 also, 1,000 monks will consecrate the Kaunghmudaw Pagoda.

Likewise, Sitagu Buddhist Academies from Mandalay, Yangon and Taungoo will offer alms to 1,000 monks door-to-door. On March 20, monks and laypersons will paid homage to the Sitagu Sayadaw, who will then deliver a sermon.
