Raw opium worth over Ks100 million seized in Pinlaung Township

Raw opium worth over Ks100 million was seized in Pinlaung Township in Shan State, as reported by the anti-drug squad. 

As per a tip off, members of the suppression squad, at 4 pm on 14 August, waited on the road connecting Nann Toke village, Pinlaung Township, and Nyaunglaybin Village, Nyaungshwe Township. 

They halted a Mark II vehicle driven by a 32 year old Khun Sandar coming from Nyaunglaybin Village going to Nann Toke village, and another Mark II driven by Ye Win, aged 32, from Leinbwata village, for inspection. Driver Khun Sandar absconded, and efforts are being made to get him into custody. 

Upon inspection of the vehicles, raw opium weighing 159.4 kilograms worth more than a hundred million kyats was found and seized on the car driven by Ye Win. It is reported that they were transporting them.

Accordingly, the Pinlaung Township police station has filed a case against Khun Sandar as per the drugs and psychotropic substances law. Efforts are being made to nab Khun Sandar and those connected.
