Quad leaders namely U.S. President Biden, Japan PM Suga, India PM Modi, and Australia PM Morrison called for an end to violence in
Myanmar when they participated in their first in-person Quad Leader’s Summit in Washington.
“We continue to call for an end to violence in Myanmar, the release of all political prisoners, including foreigners, engagement in constructive dialogue, and for the early restoration of democracy,” the joint statement said.
The leaders also called for the urgent implementation of the ASEAN Five Point Consensus.
The ASEAN Five Points Consensus states that there shall be an immediate cessation of violence in Myanmar and all parties shall exercise utmost restraint; constructive dialogue among all parties concerned shall commence to seek a peaceful solution in the interests of the people
