President Win Myint has called for collaborative efforts of the people in Rakhine State for the restoration of peace and stability that have lasted for many years and the emergence of a pleasant and developed state in the future.

The President made the comment in his message on the occasion of the 45th Anniversary of Rakhine State Day.

Rakhine State Day was designated on December 15 when a national referendum was held in accord with the 9174 constitution. The day has been celebrated since 1975 till the present, and December 15, 2019 is the 45th anniversary of Rakhine State Day.

Despite having been blessed with beautiful beaches like the Ngapali and ancient cultural heritage sites, Rakhine State has lagged behind other regions in development due to wrong policies and miss-management in successive eras, the President said.

He said as soon as his government took office, emphasis has been placed on Rakhine State development by forming a central committee and work committees. Meanwhile, measures are also being taken for humanitarian aid, resettlement and development projects.

So far, 30 EOI (expression of interest) proposals with a total investment of US$5.249 billion have been signed.

According to the message, 16 out of 17 townships in Rakhine State have access to the national power grid. Solar, diesel and thermal energy power supply projects are being implemented in the remaining Marnaung Township.
