Police members for now detaining illegal Bengali migrants placed in home quarantine

Members of the Police Force from Myanaung and Kyankhin townships that were on security service while the illegal Bengali migrants were being held are to be in Home Quarantine for one more week, as disclosed by the Public Health Department.

   

These members of the police force had been in quarantine for a fortnight in the school in Hinthada for the planning for natural disasters, and now they are to be in Home Quarantine for one more week, as instructed by the health department.

     

Dr Ngyi Ngyi Lwin, director of Hinthada District Public Health Department, said that after completing 14 days in quarantine, the members of the police force have gone back home. All of them are Negative, and are in good health. Their swabs were taken only once. They will be in Home Quarantine for a week. They will report if they have any difficulty.

     

While the illegal Bengali migrants were in custody, one policeman was found to have been infected with COVID-19 virus. He was treated at Hinthada hospital and the others not affected by the virus were sent back to their respective townships.

     

As regards the policemen in Home Quarantine in Myanaung township, the deputy police chief, Htay Lwin, said that although it is Home Quarantine, three members of the police force from Inbin are in the school. Although they can be sent home it is safer to keep them in the school. The three from Myanaung are in Myanaung Police Institute. Two from Kanaung are in Kanaung Police Prayer House.

     

When asked about those that returned to Kyankhin township the Betye area deputy police chief, Myint Thein said they are in Home Quarantine for a week, as the police quarters are a bit small they have been grouped in Betye State High School, and after a week they will return to the unit for duty. The deputy chief of police from Myanaung is on temporary chief.Security and other matters are taken care of by the remaining members of the force. The living quarters of the policemen are very small, and in order to avoid contact with family members and other members of the force they are quarantined in the school for safety.The township police chief is in Stay at home, the security officer from Bilatmyay unit is also in Stay at Home.

     

42 Bengalis, 4 boat operators, and a guide were captured in a river between Mawlamyaing Kyun township and Bogalay township on 24 August. The Bengalis were sent to Kyankhin township.Members of the police force took security of the Bengalis while they were there temporarily. Of the 42 Bengalis one was found to be Positive and was sent to Weibagi hospital and the others were sent to Rakhine State.
