MYITKYINA-----Plans are underway to rescue the victims who were attacked by the air strikes during on the eve of 62nd Anniversary of KIO being held at the headquarter of KIA’s Brigade 9th which situated two-mile distance from Kansee village in Hpakant Township, Kachin State, at night of October 23rd.

The locals said that Kachin celebrities, business persons, KIA officers and volunteers were killed during the air strikes.

“Yes. KIA was attacked by jets. There are many casualties and injuries. We didn’t know exactly what happened now because the communication access already has been poor. We knew that there were at least over 30 deaths. The Hpakant Township Social Organization requested the priest to send the injured persons to the hospital. The government organization is now cooperating with the local peoples. They didn’t allow to carry the bodies but they allow to support medical treatment for the injured persons.

Although a group led by the priest from Hpakant Township Kachin Baptist Association went to the incident aiming to rescue the victims, the security forces blocked the roads at the Lonekhin village, according to those who participated in the rescue teams.

The rescue vehicles weren’t allowed to pass the Lonekhin village. So, the vehicles returned back to the Hpakant Township.  The local armed organizations and its related persons said that over 30 people were killed during the air strikes.
