Questioning started for the plaintiffs in a trial for President Win Myint charged under section 25 of the natural disaster management law and State Counsellor Aung San Suu kyi charged under section 25 of the same law, section 8 of the export/import law and section 67 of the telecommunications law in Nay Pyi Taw on June 14, said advocate Min Min Soe.

The President and the State Counsellor were brought to trial at an exclusive court in the compound of Nay Pyi Taw Council in Zabuthiri Township, Union Territory, on June 14.

“Like in the previous trial, we met with Mother (Aung San Suu Kyi) and then with U Win Myint. We discussed their cases. At about 10.20 am, the trial started. The case for U Win Myint started. Then, the plaintiff for the case of Mother charged with section 25 of the disaster management law. Then came a lunch break. At 1.45 pm, for her case related to section 67 of the telecommunications law, the police officer plaintiff was questioned. Then, the plaintiff for the case related to section 8 of the export/import law. Today, questioning started for the plaintiffs,” said lawyer Min Min Soe.

She said Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was in good health but she was having a toothache. She added that assistance the State Counsellor asked for in the previous trial had been provided after consultation with police officers concerned.

She said two other charges on the State Counsellor would be heard tomorrow (June 15).

According to the lawyer, one police major for the case of U Win Myint and two police majors for the cases of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi were questioned as plaintiffs during the June 14 court hearing.
