Parliament approves the nomination of Home Affairs Minister

Union Parliament approved the nomination of Lt-Gen Soe Htut as Minister for Home Affairs, announced Union Parliament Speaker Ti Khun Myat during a parliament session held on February 10.

Union Parliament Speaker announced in Parliament on February 6 that the President had submitted his appointment as the new minister. 

The MPs who oppose the nomination must submit their objections and supporting documents to parliament on February 7 and no MP who voted against the nomination.

The President Office announced on February 4 that Lt-Gen Kyaw Swe will resign from his duties as Union Minister for Home Affairs and returned to his military duties and the new Union Minister for Home Affairs will be appointed.

Lt-Gen Soe Htut is Chief of the Military Security Affairs and he is the son of late Brig-Gen Lun Maung. He was born in 1960 and is 59 years and nine months old now.

He has three sons and they have investments in construction and tourism sectors, according to his profile submitted to the Union Parliament.
