Myanmar is evacuating its citizens abroad by conducting relief flights during the Covid-19 period when the arrival of international flights are being banned and 39,493 were brought back till January 12 this year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
Under the instruction of National Level Central Committee for Covid-19 Prevention, Control and Treatment, the Foreign Affairs Ministry in cooperation with relevant ministries and Myanmar embassies in foreign countries has been conducting relief flights since April 1 last year to bring back Myanmar citizens including sailors facing difficulties abroad due to the Covid-19 global pandemic.
Currently, the State-owned Myanmar National Airlines (MNA) and Myanmar Airways International (MAI) are conducting regular flights weekly.
MNA conducts a regular flight to Singapore on Friday and a chartered flight on Saturday. MAI conducts weekly flights to the Republic of Korea on Tuesday and Malaysia on Wednesday. ANA airlines based in Japan also conducts flights to Japan on Thursdays.
Apart from those regular flights, other relief flights are also organized as necessary for Myanmar citizens and foreigners for their educational, business and medical purposes.
