Over 200 voters cast wrong votes at Polling Station No (7) in Ward-12, Hline Township, after the ballot book for Region No (1) was mistakenly used for that of Region No (2), said candidates from People’s Pioneer Party.

All other parties except the National League for Democracy have demanded the cancellation of those wrong votes.

“207 people have voted. Yet, it was wrong. Officials from the township and district election sub-commissions came here. We all the parties but NLD oppose it. We are demanding those 207 votes discarded. The NLD candidate said he wanted to call them back. It is possible that we can call those 207 people in 10 hours. All have agreed to cancel the votes, said PPP candidate Mon Mon Myint.

The ballot boxes containing wrong votes have been closed for further coordination with the district commission,” said PPP candidate for Region Constituency No (2) Kyawt Kay Khine Win.

“Currently, we have talked about  discarding those wrong votes. The matter has been submitted to the district level commission because the township level cannot decide on it. We will raise the issue at 4 pm. Now, we have stopped it. As far as I know, the ballot book for Region (1) was wrongly displaced by that for Region (2).

An polling official also confirmed the wrong voting saying that over 200 votes are kept untouched.
