One new case of COVID-19 confirmed in Yangon

Yangon-A 45-year-old woman working in a private clinic in Yangon, tested positive for COVID-19, according to a statement by the Ministry of Health and Sports on 31 March.

The new patient (Case-15) had no travel history in the past 14 days, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 15.

The patient (Case-15) living in Bahan Township, is a staff from the private clinic which provides health care services to foreigners. On 27 March, she started suffering from fever, sore throat and cough. On 30 March, she went to the Bahan Township Public Health Department which referred her to Yangon West Hospital. She was monitored and isolated at the hospital. Now she will be moved to Waibargi Specialist Hospital, according to the statement.

From 6 pm on 30 March to 6 pm on 31 March, there were 44 new Persons Under Investigation (PUI).

Currently, 13 patients being isolated at the respective hospitals are in stable condition.

One (Case-5) out of two confirmed patients being treated at the Intensive Care Unit of  Waibargi Specialist Hospital, died on 31 March.
