Number of private filling stations reaches 2,576

The government has approved operation of about 190 private fuel stations in nine months, bringing the total number to 2,576 across Myanmar, according to the ministry of electricity and energy. 

Till December 27, 2018, the number was 2,389 and increased to 2,576 in September 2019. This means that 187 filling stations received licenses in over nine months. 

Those local fuel stations that received licenses up to September 18 this year are 94 in the Union Territory, 183 in Yangon Region, 631 in Mandalay Region, 211 in Ayeyawady Region, 257 in Bago Region, 177 in Magway Region, 224 in Sagaing Region, 28 in Taninthayi Region, 110 in Kachin State, 18 in Kayah State, 50 in Kayin State, four in Chin State, 131 in Mon State, 38 in Rakhine State, 57 in eastern Shan State, 193 in northern Shan State and 170 in southern Shan State. 

On September 23 in local market, maximum prices available at local filling stations were K950 for one liter of diesel (K4,318 per gallon), K960 for one liter of premium diesel (K4,364 per gallon), K850 for one liter of 92 Ron octane (K3,864 per gallon) and K940 for one liter of 95 Ron octane (K4,273 per gallon).

In 11 months this fiscal year, Myanmar imported over 4.9 million tons of fuel worth over US$2.9 billion, falling by over 480,000 tons worth over US$380 million compared to the same period of last fiscal year.
