As there are a lot of cases with many people with loss of the sense of smell in Yangon Region, it is not feasible currently to go around conducting lab tests of swabs from members of the families from townships and wards, said Dr. Tun Myint, vice chair of the Yangon Region COVID-19 Prevention, Control and Treatment committee, Yangon Region Public Health Director.

"As of now, there are no plans to go around in turns to conduct tests. The resources in our country are very limited. There are more suspicious cases, and there are more contacts. There are many coming back to the country from abroad. These people are given preference for testing. Now health workers and volunteers are to be given preference for testing, and that is the reason why it is not possible to go around in turns conducting tests. Besides conducting a test for the first time may result negatively, but failure to abide by discipline chances is one can get infected later," said Dr. Tun Myint.

Dr. Htun Myint encouraged people who sense any infection not to stay at home but to hospitals and quarantine centres and take treatment.

On October 7th, there were 1094 new positive patients in Yangon.
