If someone has evidence that the 2020 general election is unfair, they can object to it, said Dr Myo Nyunt, spokesperson of National League for Democracy (NLD).
He made a response to some political parties which said there are some disputes in the election in addition to being an unfair and unjust election.
“It is only their view and they can object to it if they have evidence. We will counter them legally,” he said.
According to the vote counts by township election sub-commissions, the NLD won more than they had in the 2015 general election.
“According to our data, we have surpassed enough seats to form the government,” he said.
However it is needed approval from the Union Election Commission (UEC), he said.
“The main thing is a voter list collected from each polling station. We collected Form-16 to know which parties won a large number of votes. And then we added the numbers of voters who voted for us and the other parties. We know we won if we have over half of the voters in each polling station,” he said.
The minimum seats to form a union government are 322 and according to internal reports of the party till the morning of November 10, the NLD won 399 seats, he added.
Although the UEC announced the voting results for some constituencies, the NLD party won most of the constituencies which the UEC announced.
The National Democratic Force (NDF) made an announcement on November 10 that they don’t accept the election results as it is not a free and fair election and they heard and experienced about the alleged malpractice in election campaigning and voting matters.
The NDF also announced the 17 facts which assumed to be the alleged malpractices in the election.
Moreover Than Htay, Chair of Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) said via his Facebook page on November 10 that although the voting process is finished, there are some disputes with evidence and they are trying to have a fair election result in line with law.
Khin Maung Oo, Director General of the UEC, said during an interview with a state owned Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV), the UEC didn’t encounter big problems except for some small problems in the election. They can say the election is successfully held.
